This is a place where you can discuss with other people anything and everything you ever wanted to know about SpiLiRa 2009! Looking for a ride to University of Missouri? Wondering what to pack? Just want to share what you are looking forward to? This is the place to do just that!

Thank you Ricky! I am looking forward to Spilira 2009. The event in 2005 was a significant experience in my ministry!
In North Texas, I have started negotiating for transportation to Missouri. I hope to have a plan in the coming week or ten days for our conference (and other conferences . . . hint, hint, Central Texas) for rides to Missouri for the event.
Thank you for the website and for this discussion board. I look forward to keeping up with the progress here!

I'm trying to bring my youth group to Spilira this year, but they're a tough crowd when it comes to trying something new! What can I expect from this event? The website doesn't have much information. I need details, like where do we stay, what are meals like, what's the theme all about, what is worship like, etc. etc. etc. I've heard great things about this event, but I need some ideas to promote it to my group.

SpiLiRa 2009 will be held at the University of Missouri so we will be staying in the dorms at Mizzou. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be in the University's cafeteria and other snack shops will be open throughout the day. The theme for SpiLiRa 2009 is "Sow What?" based off the verse from John 4:37-38. Scott Sharp, who is our bible study leader, will speak each day during the morning assembly and help us learn how to sow love, justice, and peace in our lives and in the lives of others and then each night at worship we will hear from a different speaker on that day's focus point. Each night we will have worship led by our house band Edge. During worship youth will participate in culturally diverse worship experiences including watching presentations from dance, choir, and drama groups. Our worship speakers include Daniel Irving, Ray Buckley, Delia Estrada, Dave McGee, and Roger Templeton. Each night we will also have a concert by a different band. We hope to have The Katinas, Group One Crew, and Superchick but we are still in the process of negotiating with them. Flyers should be sent out to your conference coordinator, but if you would like I can send them directly to you if you send me your email address.
I hope this information helps and let me know if there are any other questions I can answer for you!
In Christ, Ricky Harrison Youth Worship Chair for SpiLiRa 2009 rharrison20@tx.rr.com

Thanks for the info! We're excited about coming! How many people usually attend Spilira?

We had around 650 people at the last SpiLiRa in 2005 which was held at OU and we are expecting 800-1000 this year.
